Differential Reinforcement

In the spirit of the first week of school, Differential Reinforcement is a GREAT consequence intervention tool to have in your teaching and/or parenting toolbox!

.

.

This behavior change technique creates an opportunity for you to focus on “catching your child/student doing the right thing” and consistently reinforcing that desirable behavior (DRA) or incompatible behavior (DRI) so that those behaviors will increase and the challenging behavior will decrease.

.

.

To cause lasting change, you must reinforce such that the alternative/incompatible behavior is more appealing than the challenging/inappropriate behavior. Think of it as cultivating motivation in your child to engage in the behavior that is more appropriate. .

.

Happy first week of school, everyone!📩info@hsvba.com //www.hsvba.com
